WPC installs, replaces, resurfaces and maintains residential asphalt driveways throughout Chicago's northwest suburbs — from standard suburban drives to long estate approaches and shared private lanes. The company is family-owned, has operated from Hoffman Estates since 1985, and provides written estimates with no hidden fees.
Two details separate a driveway that lasts from one that does not: the base beneath it and the pitch away from the house. Both are decided before any asphalt is placed.
We provide residential driveway paving across Hampshire, Pingree Grove, Gilberts, Elgin, South Elgin, Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Streamwood, Bartlett, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, and Schaumburg.
View Service AreaPassenger vehicles can generally return once the surface has cooled and set — commonly within a day or two depending on temperature and thickness — but new asphalt remains vulnerable to point loads considerably longer. Kickstands, trailer jacks, ladder feet and turning the wheel of a stopped car can all leave marks for weeks. Written aftercare guidance is provided at completion.
Replacement, widening, or any work touching the apron in the public right-of-way commonly requires a permit and inspection in northwest suburban municipalities. WPC handles permit coordination as part of the project [WPC to confirm handling by municipality].
Thickness matters, but the depth and compaction of the aggregate base beneath it matters more. A properly built base under an adequate surface outperforms a thick surface over a poor base every time. A good estimate states both the base specification and the asphalt section rather than quoting a depth in isolation.
Usually. The determining factor is the condition of the existing gravel base — a well-maintained, compacted gravel drive may provide a workable foundation with correction and additional stone, while a rutted, soft one needs to be rebuilt. That evaluation happens at the estimate, because it is where most of the cost variance lives.
